Michael Klejs Pedersen

Michael Klejs Pedersen specialises in employment and labour law.  

Michael has a right of audience before the Danish High Courts and has been an acting high court judge of the Danish Western High Court. Michael has conducted a considerable number of legal proceedings before the courts, industrial dispute resolution bodies and private arbitral tribunals. 

Michael is recognised by The Legal 500 within ‘Employment’. 

Michael advises owners, boards of directors, executive officers and senior staff members in Danish and international enterprises. Michael’s advice extends to executive service agreements, employment contracts for salaried employees, commission and incentive schemes, etc. 

In addition, he advises on severance agreements, non-competition clauses, employees’ legal rights in the event of transfer of undertakings and collective agreements. Furthermore, he provides advice on issues relating to whistleblowing schemes, including setting up whistleblowing schemes. Michael also regularly provides assistance in conducting legal investigations. Moreover, Michael advises on issues relating to the law of associations. 

Michael regularly writes articles on issues relating to employment and labour law.

Recent highlights
  • Michael acted for a municipally owned utility company in connection with a legal investigation on the basis of a whistleblowing report concerning financial irregularities. 
  • Michael acted for a dental practitioner in a case of general public importance regarding the interpretation of the Danish rule on termination after 120 days’ full sickness absence. Michael conducted the case before the Danish District and High Courts, and he provided assistance in the case before the Supreme Court, where our client was successful. 
  • Michael acted for a major production company in a case of general public importance before the Danish Western High Court regarding the scope of protection under the Danish Act on equal treatment. Michael’s client was successful in the High Court, and an appeal is now pending before the Supreme Court.
