It is increasingly unlikely that the negotiations between the UK and EU will result in an agreement, and it is time to face the harsh reality of a no-deal Brexit at the end of this month.

Although both Danish and English companies involved in international trade and transport have had time to prepare for this outcome, the no-deal scenario will without doubt result in business disruption, including interruptions and delays to supply chains and international sale of goods and services, as well as a wide range of both regulatory and contractual issues. Even if a Brexit deal is reached, companies will have little time to change their organisations and operations to comply with any new regulation.

At DLA Piper, we have examined the impact of Brexit on a number of key sectors. You can explore what Brexit means for your company and read our advice on how to plan for a no-deal Brexit here.

We have set up an international team of lawyers who are prepared to assist with any issues arising out of Brexit. The team covers key jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, and includes experts in English and Danish law, as well as European regulation through our firm’s Bruxelles office. As a full-service top-tier law firm, we are able to pull together expertise from key jurisdictions across the globe to provide urgent advice and assistance to companies in need hereof.

Our firm advises clients on all aspects of international trade, transport and logistics – including international sale and purchase contracts, Incoterms, UCP 600 and other commercial contracts. On the regulatory side, we assist clients in relation to tax and customs rules, import/export regulation, as well as local and international regulation on trade, transport and storage of goods. We also advise clients on all aspects within transport, logistics and insurance, including contracts of carriage, cargo claims for damage and delay (air, road and sea), limitation of liability and force majeure, as well as logistics, freight forwarding, distribution, agency and warehousing agreements.
