DLA Piper advises DLG in a million investment within renewable energy
Danish agricultural group, DLG, invests a three-digit million amount in the Danish biogas company BioCirc, which is Denmark's second largest producer of biogas with five large biogas plants in Jutland and Zealand. With this investment, the DLG Group is now a co-owner of the energy company, which intends to establish circular energy clusters in Denmark.
This is DLG’s largest green-transition investment so far and is intended to ensure the key role of the agricultural industry in the green transition within the energy area. Already today, farmers are BioCirc’s primary business partners, as they supply a large part of the biomass which is converted into CO2 neutral energy.
”There is an enormous growth potential in biogas, and it is precisely that growth we wish to be a part of. Our role will be to push the development and commercialize it with farmers’ interests in mind”, says Jesper Pagh, Group COO of DLG.
BioCirc's ambition is to establish land-based circular energy clusters, and the plan is to concentrate biogas production, solar parks and wind farms as well as technologies such as electrolysis, Power-to-X, biorefining of grass and pyrolysis. The energy clusters will help to ensure full green transition locally in the participating municipalities and will contribute to achieving their climate goals for 2030.
DLG was advised by a DLA Piper team made up of Christian Bredtoft Guldmann, Jens Krogh Petersen, Jonas Magaard Bøgh, Christine Rahbek Lindhard, Flora Hua Ting Chieng and Esben Aggerbeck Biering.
