New premises: DLA Piper moves into Oslo Plads II
A modern feel, interaction in open-plan offices and a wish for a joint brand profile in Aarhus and Copenhagen make DLA Piper Denmark move its Copenhagen premises from Raadhuspladsen to the newly constructed Oslo Plads II on 1 March 2021.
Danish leading global law firm, DLA Piper, is relocating from Raadhuspladsen to brand new facilities in the newly built premises right next to Østerport Station. DLA Piper will still be located in the heart of Copenhagen within easy reach for clients and staff, either by car or public transport, and with Copenhagen Airport only a few stops away.
The wish for contemporary facilities that match a modern law firm is the reason for the decision to move to new premises.
“With this move to Oslo Plads II, we’ll get a physical setting in line with our strategy and which fulfils our wish for a central location. We can further develop our business in up-to-date premises in a way that supports modern forms of collaboration across our areas of expertise and together with our staff and clients”, says Martin Lavesen, Managing Partner in DLA Piper Denmark.
He also emphasizes that DLA Piper contributed to the fitting out of the new office facilities with particular focus on transparency and collaboration - both leading factors during the construction process.
”The idea of the building is to create an up-to-date workplace engaged in the surrounding community and which stimulates knowledge sharing. Focus is on openness, and irrespective of where your work station is, you’ll have a unique view,” says Mikkel Beedholm, Partner in KHR Architecture.
Designed by Danish architecture firm KHR Architecture, the building is a new construction of the building adjoining Østerport Station. Originally consisting of approx. 6,600 sqm., the new building is an extensive conversion of the existing building, where, most recently, Maersk Oil resided. An additional 11,000 sqm. have been added. DLA Piper’s premises are on the top three floors and total 8,300 sqm.
“At Oslo Plads II, you move along the façade. Its aesthetic expressions change, and seen from the outside, the activity inside melts into the daily goings-on in Copenhagen”, explains Mikkel Beedholm.
With locations at Oslo Plads II in Copenhagen and at Dokk1 in Aarhus, DLA Piper cements its position as a global law firm and a modern knowledge house in the heart of Denmark’s two largest cities.
The move introduces a new physical environment for both staff members and clients in Copenhagen, and its central location within easy reach by car as well as public transport was a must in the decision-making process.
"It has been of vital importance to us that our premises continue to be located in the heart of Copenhagen. Accessibility is a top priority for us, and Oslo Plads II certainly delivers on that score”, says Martin Lavesen.
