Christopher Birk-Petersen

Christopher Birk-Petersen deals with environmental and planning law as well as rights of nature law in relation to the setting up and construction of buildings and facilities in urban and rural areas. 

Christopher is experienced in conducting proceedings before boards, tribunals and courts, including the Danish Planning Board of Appeal and the Danish Environmental Board of Appeal. 

Christopher provides advice to plot owners, private enterprises and public authorities on soil contamination, planning and environmental challenges, nature protection, rights under easements or other encumbrances and other related construction restrictions. Christopher acted for clients such as the Municipality of Køge on the setup of the largest coast protection and flood management project so far in Denmark. 

Moreover, he has experience of issues of construction law and acts for owners in both the public and the private sectors and for contractors and consultants within as well as outside the Danish system of accepted sets of general conditions in the construction industry. 

Furthermore, Christopher has gained extensive experience through his part-time secondment to Crossbridge Energy A/S, where he deals with environmental aspects, contract negotiations and supervisory-board activities as well as various permits required for the operation and development of the refinery. 

He also has experience from his previous secondment to Copenhagen Airports A/S, where he provided advice on environmental, energy and planning law, including the new planning act for the airport and the related environmental impact assessment, and on permits for any given use of land within planning and environmental law in relation to the airport’s day-to-day operation and specific projects.
