DLA Piper Denmark is the first law firm to join a new consortium to accelerate Danish language models. The Alexandra Institute, IBM, and the Danish Chamber of Commerce spearheaded the creation of the first Danish language models, which are based on firm principles of responsible AI and aim to ensure transparency and protection of data and copyrights so that the language models can be used safely.

The consortium contributes Danish data and use cases, and Danish Foundation Models, a collaboration between Aarhus University, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Southern Denmark, and the Alexandra Institute, develops the foundation models.

'We need language models that are trained in the Danish language, values, Danish legislation and practice. In both the public and private sectors, many people want to utilise the many possibilities offered by generative AI, and it is crucial that there is confidence in the data on which the models are trained. That's why this work is so important,' says Marlene Winther Plas, Partner, Tech Lawyer, and Data Protection Officer at DLA Piper Denmark.
