Bergthor Bergsson
Bergthor Bergsson provides legal advice within the areas of litigation, insurance law and the law of damages.
Bergthor is a member of the Danish Association of Litigation Attorneys and the Danish Arbitration Association and acts for clients on commercial-law disputes, arbitration proceedings and lawsuits. Bergthor advises especially Danish insurance companies and pension companies on non-life insurance as well as life insurance.
He also provides advice to insurance companies outside the EU. He provided assistance in a number of complex matters, which involved the cross-border transfer of insurance portfolios etc. Moreover, he acts for business-sector clients in disputes on non-life insurance contracts.
Bergthor also authored the article “Equal Pay and EU Public Procurement Law – Case Study of Mandatory Icelandic ÍST85 Standard”, Nordic Journal of European Law, vol. 4, no. 1, 2021.

Bergthor acted for a large Danish insurance company, where he provided regulatory and strategic advice in a matter regarding a cross-border transfer of insurance portfolios.
Bergthor acted for a major company in a dispute concerning insurance coverage of a large rental property. The dispute was particularly complex and involved a considerable subject-matter.
Bergthor acted for a large Danish pension company in a case where a number of members had joined in bringing an action against the pension company. Due to the number of plaintiffs, the case was particularly complex from a procedural perspective.
