Denmark, the other EU countries, the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and many other countries have imposed economic and other sanctions or more extensive and strict sanctions on Russia and its military and authorities and certain Russian persons and companies.

Denmark, the other EU countries, the EU, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America had already introduced sanctions against Russia before the conflict. Since the beginning of the conflict, they have several times imposed more and more extensive and strict sanctions against Russia.

They have also imposed sanctions on Belarus for its support to and participation in Russia's military actions against Ukraine.

They may impose even more and more extensive and strict sanctions on Russia and Belarus in the future, in particular, if the conflict continues.

The sanctions apply to Russia, Belarus and their military, authorities and certain persons and entities, including companies, in Russia and Belarus.

The United Kingdom, the United States and other non-EU countries have, in some cases and to some extent, imposed more extensive and strict sanctions on Russia and Belarus than EU countries.

Danish persons and companies are subject to sanction rules from Denmark and the EU.

Danish persons and companies with activities or assets in or relations to the United Kingdom, the United States of America or other countries can and will in some cases also be subject to sanction rules from these countries. For example, this may be the case if they have affiliated companies, assets or government agreements or perform activities in the other countries. The Danish persons and companies will then have to comply with these sanction rules.

Failure to comply with sanction rules will in some cases be a criminal offence for Danish persons and companies. In some cases, they may also be excluded from carrying out activities and disposing of their assets in the other countries. It can thus also have very comprehensive and detrimental consequences for Danish persons and companies if they are subject to foreign sanction rules and do not comply with the rules.
