Josephine Bloch Thomsen

Josephine Bloch Thomsen provides advice on intellectual property law and marketing law.  

Josephine acts for both Danish and international enterprises and is particularly experienced in solving complicated issues in the interface between technology and law. 

Josephine advises on registration strategies and assists in enforcing the rights, both administratively and before the courts. She has extensive experience of the latter due to her previous employment with the courts etc.  

In addition, she advises on the drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts and liaises with our M&A department in due diligence processes, providing advice on IP-related aspects. 

Josephine has lectured on Civil Procedure at the University of Copenhagen and co-authored the article ”Appealing judgments by the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court to the Supreme Court of Denmark – status after approx. two years of the new rules on appealing judgments by the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court (section 368(4)-(6) of the Danish Administration of Justice Act)”, published (in Danish only) in the Danish weekly law reports in 2016.

Recent highlights
  • Josephine acted for an IT group in a trademark dispute. The action called for in-depth knowledge of the industry, including the new technological advances, as well as the structuring of arguments relating to trademark, marketing and corporate law in a civil action.  
  • Josephine provides advice to online platforms on terms and conditions in the light of, among other things, the liability-exemption rules set out in the Danish e-commerce Act. She acted for a platform in a criminal case concerning distribution of third-party products, including issues of product safety.  
  • Together with our M&A practice group, Josephine provided assistance in connection with a transaction involving software for wind turbines. Josephine assisted in the due diligence and was in charge of handling the IP issues raised by the transaction.
