Trine Hasselbalch

Trine Hasselbalch advises particularly Danish and international clients in connection with the transfer of all or parts of a distressed enterprise (distressed M&A) and in connection with restructuring of enterprises.

Trine has a right of audience before the Danish High Courts. She is head of DLA Piper Denmark’s Agriculture and Food sector team and a member of DLA Piper’s global Hospitality & Leisure sector team.

She is a certified insolvency lawyer and has been appointed to the panel of insolvency attorneys set up by the Danish Debt Collection Agency. In addition, she is recognised by IFLR1000 and The Legal 500 within 'Insolvency'. 

Trine also advises banks and other financial institutions on issues relating to finance, charges and insolvency law.

Moreover, she provides advice to agricultural and food enterprises on commercial contracts, restructurings and ownership transition.

Finally, she focuses on the green transition and sustainability and advises on renewable energy projects and ESG, etc. 

Trine also has extensive lecturing experience from Aarhus University and the Association of Danish Law Firms, etc. on topics relating to restructuring and agriculture. In addition, she is an experienced speaker.

Trine is a member of Danske Advokaters fagudvalg for klima (specialist committee on climate change, the Association of Danish Law Firms).

Recent highlights
  • Trine assisted in the restructuring of a large Danish agricultural enterprise. The matter was particularly complex due to the size and many locations of the enterprise.
  • Trine acted for a large food manufacturing enterprise, which had been severely challenged by the energy crisis and thus suffered a significant increase in energy costs; as a result, its business activities were no longer profitable. She assisted in the winding up of the enterprise by means of bankruptcy proceedings and the divestment of part of the enterprise with a view to reduced prospective operations.
  • Trine provided legal assistance to a group of plot owners in connection with a renewable energy project, including with a combined peatland project to reduce CO2 emissions.
